Preparation of Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) based acrylic monomer
Liška, Marek ; Přikryl, Radek (referee) ; Figalla, Silvestr (advisor)
The main aim of this thesis is to research and prepare acrylic (methacrylic) monomers derived from poly(3-hydroxybutyrate). The monomers were prepared in two-step syntheses. In the first step P3HB was depolymerised with selected alcohols and afterwards, products of those syntheses were used as substrate and mixed with polymethylmethacrylate to produce their methacrylic derivates. The selected alcohols for the alcoholysis were ethanol and ethylene glycol. In total, four substances were prepared. Products of alcoholysis were ethyl-3- hydroxybutyrate, 2-hydroxyethyl-3-hydroxybutyrate and their methacrylic derivates. Significant part of this thesis is aimed towards the analysis of prepared substances and the analysis of reactions. In the process, titrations and instrumental methods, such as gel permeation chromatography (GPC), infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), thermogravimetry (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used. This work describes preparation and analysis of polymers prepared from methacrylates from the mentioned syntheses. Cross-linked polymers, because of their low glass-transition temperature are elastomers.
Analysis of substances released from composite dental material
Fučík, Jan ; Řezáčová, Veronika (referee) ; Mravcová, Ludmila (advisor)
This master's thesis deals with a present problem of alternative dental fillings, which should replace amalgam fillings. Although there are health concerns about these alternative materials, especially resin composite fillings raise concerns, because they release potentionally harmful substances into the oral cavity. Accordingly even this medical device subjects various tests before releasing to the commercial market and one of these tests was carried out according to ČSN EN ISO 10993 and available scientific literature in the experimental part of this thesis. The amalgam controversy, substances used for manufacturing of resin dental fillings and analytical methods are described in the theoretical part of the thesis. In the experimental part of the thesis, 30 days long cumulative extraction experiments were carried out into various extraction mediums in order to assess suitability of new dental resin filling from ADM, a.s. by comparison with commercially available dental material from company GC EUROPE N.V. These samples were analysed by LC-MS and the amount of eluted substances from dental composites to extraction medium was quantified.
New gel electrolytes based on copolymers for electrochemical power sources
Peterová, Soňa ; Sedlaříková, Marie (referee) ; Veselkova, Iuliia (advisor)
This thesis deals with description of preparation and use of monomers and copolymers for gel polymer electrolytes usable in electrochemical power sources. This thesis is divided in theoretical and experimental part. The theoretical part describes electrolytes focused on gel polymer electrolytes, measuring methods and materials used for experiments. The experimental part deals with calculation of composition of polymer electrolytes, method of preparation and evaluation of measured results. The method of applying GPE to a negative LTO electrode and a positive NMC electrode is described too. Linear Sweep Voltammetry (LSV) and Potentiostatic Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (PEIS), Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) and Galvanostatic Cycling with Potential Limitation (GCPL) were chosen for measurement of properties.
